Do I need to protect my outdoor furniture in winter?
Indeed, we advise you to protect your outdoor furniture from the cold of winter. The best would be to keep it away in a garage or a well-ventilated place. If you cannot do so, put it away from draughts and cover it with a waterproof canvas. You may spray water on it when temperatures are warmer, in order to keep a minimum level of humidity.
Teakwood, even when cut, remains a natural product that reacts to the aggressions of the weather when highly exposed. Cracks or fissures may appear but without endangering the integrity of your furniture |
Is Teck Ethik branded with an environmental label?
The environmental label acknowledged by all is the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), which certifies a virtuous origin of the wood, as well as a production respectful of men and their environment. This approach is achieved after several months, if not several years, according to the complexity of the file. We work hand in hand with local authorities, producers and owners in order to achieve this label.
From today onwards , we guarantee the exclusive use of plantation teakwood, with official certificates to prove it. This commitment is part of our basic approach and we cannot depart from it. |
Is it possible to submit small orders?
The processing of small items is not a production problem but rather a disadvantage in terms of shipping. Actually, if you live in Europe , the high fees of customs clearance when entering Shengen space will be shared by a small number of items which will thus see the individual cost increase significantly. Therefore we do not encourage the orders with a volume less than 5m3.
Thus, the greater the order, the lower custom clearance fee per item. Nevertheless, these costs may be acceptable in the case of tailor-made or unusual pieces. |
Where is the furniture made?
All our items are produced in the north of Thailand . We work with several factories located at the outskirts of the largest cities of this region: Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Lampang. We choose our partners with care to make sure they meet our demand in terms of quality and social and environmental approach. This is one of the fundamental conditions of the trust-based relation we wish to establish with our clientele. |
How old are the trees that are used, and how is the wood dried?
Trees of the plantation forests are cut when they are 30 year-old and their circumference oscillates between 80 and 140 cm. The midway cuts between 15 and 20 year generate younger and cheaper wood that is used for the making of the smaller pieces of furniture .
One of the essential operations on teakwood is the drying process meant to reduce at the maximum the humidity level of the trunks delivered directly at the factory. Exposed first to the sun natural heat (2/3 weeks), then to the high temperatures of gas dryers (3/5 days), the wood reaches its minimum humidity level ranging from 8 and 15%. This stage aims at limiting the natural warping of furniture subjected to significant hygrometric fluctuations. |
What is the average waiting time between my order and delivery in France ?
More often than not, orders represent important volumes we must produce before sending them. The time needed for manufacturing depends on the quantity but does not exceed 2 months.
When our order is ready, we send it right away by boat. It takes about 5 weeks to reach Le Havre . Then a few days will be necessary for custom clearing and transporting your furniture to your home. We will mention on the quotation the expected date of delivery to your home. |
