Our convictions

The manufacturing of furniture, because of the huge quantity of wood needed, is not neutral for the planet and the forests.

Teakwood is one of the species the most affected by deforestation.

In Burma , the organized and massive destruction of tropical rain forests, listed among the most important in the world, supports the current military junta.

In Indonesia , the shortage of teakwood generates traffics that make the traceability difficult.

In spite of that, there are many producers and distributors using these networks knowingly. Some of them will even go as far as praising the virtuous character of the process, cheating the consumer along the way.

TECK ETHIK
has the conviction that furniture manufacturing, and thus the exploitation of wood, must be carried out without harming natural resources.

By using solely teakwood coming from Thai plantations and by favouring the development of other species that respect the environment, TECK ETHIK strives to join this new generation of responsible entrepreneurs who consider ethics and the consequences of their activities as the most important issues.

Concerning teakwood, Thai plantations represent today a viable and sustainable alternative. These harvested forests, set up in the sixties, guarantee rejuvenation while allowing almost unlimited supplies, thus maintaining the biodiversity.
